A Flying Start to the New Term

Wow, what a busy three days we have had so far!!!

Our main topic this term is "Our Place, Our People". We have brainstormed what the word culture means to us and came up with so many different opinions. We looked at the dictionary and online to think about how other people define culture, then we wrote our very own room teo definition.

In Room Two culture means
"The things groups of people do and the way they do them."

We have begun to read different traditional tales from around the world, to help us use the questioning reading strategy we have begun to do some "Hot Seating". When we are in the "Hot Seat" we go into role of a character from one of the stories we have read. The rest of the class asks the character some 5W and H questions. It has been a lot of fun.

Wow Thinking!!!!

This morning Room 2 read the poem "Tree's". We noticed the poem had paragraphs - Mrs McEwen told us the paragraphs in a poem are called stanzas.  We decided to do some critical thinking about stanzas.

Sarah thought it would be a good idea to compare stanzas and paragraphs so we understand more about them. We thought we would use white and blue hat thinking to do this.

Joseph said a venn diagram would be a good graphic organiser to use because we can see things that are the same and things that are different. Mrs McEwen agreed this "it is a great way to compare and contrast"

Welcome Back !!

Sadly we are no longer Team 6, and haven't been for a whole term now. You will now find us in Room 2. We have been very busy beavers learning all about sound. Next week we will be finishing the term off by making a set of musical instruments we have designed using our new found scientific and technological knowledge.

Watch this space to see how we go!!
